September 11

Hi,

Another Friday, another medical report. Today we met with a new doctor, a pulmonary specialist. It has been a concern of mine that there was never a follow up after Denny had those blood clots, to measure his lung function. Because his progress has been at a snail's pace and because his breathing seems (to me) to be labored and shallow, I asked Dr. Meena if Denny could see a specialist. After reviewing today's chest X-ray and the other test results, this new doctor is sending Den on for further studies including a CT scan, another eco-cardiogram, and a sleep apnea study. Maybe one or all of these tests will shed light on why Denny just cannot overcome the fatigue that has plagued him for nearly a year.

The weather is too gorgeous to stay inside, so I am going out to use our new trimmer!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Love,
Carla

Sitting at my desk at school and the song on the radio is "Only the Good Die Young". I immediately went back to my senior year when you did a lesson using that song. In fact, everytime I hear that song I think of you and your wonderful teaching. Keep fighting! And, I'll keep praying for you and your family.

Denny and Carla,

I hate to hear that you are still having so much fatigue.....I was just wondering if Denny has been checked for CFS or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. When you mentioned that he is a shallow breather I especially thought of this. I suffer from Fibromyalgia and have for years. Its kind of the sister disease to CFS. CFS can come on after a severe illness. My body feels at times like I have the body ache flu and extreme fatigue but not the actual fever. I have gotten some relief by learning to breath correctly. I also was a shallow breather. I was told that when you breath with your chest and only take shallow breaths your body thinks it is in constant "fight or flight" mode...you should only take shallow chest breathes under extreme distress. You need to breath with your stomach. I went to Bellin Center for Health and Healing and worked with a breath therapist to learn to breath with my stomach and get more oxygen in my system to heal my muscles.

Here is some more info on this...

It seems like such an easy thing, but it takes a little training to do this. But it makes a ton of sense in healing your body.

I find that I sleep better, I think it is better overall for my nervouse system and my health.

I wish you luck!!!!

Hi Denny and Carla,
I still appreciate receiving your updates on how you both are doing. The weather has been terrific and I have played golf often. Now I am getting some tree trimming done, and am battling the wonderful acorn season. The oaks trees are beautiful but they do create a mess.
Think of you often. Enjoy the weather before it disappears!!! You are in my prayers always.
